List Building is part of the life blood of success on the Internet. One of the best ways to build a hyper-responsive list is to leverage the Social Marketing SignPosts that are now available.

In just a moment I’m going to give you 3 powerful list building tips with Social Marketing. But first I want to make a couple of important points about this thing called a list:

Point 1 – I call my list my list community - Why? Because in my mind my list community is not a collection of email addresses that I get to pound with offers. I think of my list community as people with live hearts and live heads that I want to build a relationship with, and serve and lead. I think this is why I have such a good relationship with my list community.

Point 2 – Social Marketing groups are a list – Your Twitter followers are a list community. Your Facebook friends and fans are a list community. Your YouTube subscribers are a list community.

Having made those two points (forgive the rant) here are those 3 strategies I promised you:

3 List Building Strategies with Social Marketing

I want you to think of your Social Marketing platforms as Social Marketing Signposts that direct prospects into your web world and into your list community. Here is how to use three of the major platforms to build your list:

Facebook – Here are 2 simple and powerful strategies to use on your Facebook Fan Page. The first is to have an opt-in box in the side bar of your Fan Page. In this way, anyone coming to your page, whether a first time visitor or a regular, has a place to join your list. The second it to have frequent updates that invite your fans to get more good information from you in exchange for their email address. I recommend you do this at least once a week.

YouTube – When it comes to list building so many marketers waste their YouTube videos. Invite your viewers back to an opt-in page with your voice on the video, with a link displayed in your video, and (so few do this) in the description of your video. This gives the viewer 3 ways to find you.

Twitter – At least once a day you should be inviting your Twitter followers to get more good info from you in exchange for their email. Make sure you are being social and offering good interaction, and you can easily include a list invite once a day.

Writing an Effective Autoresponder Series

This is one area where, up until very recently, I had great difficulty and anxiety.   If you can write a great autoresponder series, then that’s your sales all wrapped up….Simple as that!

An autoresponder will automate all your sales messages so that you don’t have to worry about keeping up with your prospects.  The autoresponder will do the work for you.  All you need to do is write a great series of emails to go through it and add the link to your blog, your splash page or your retail website.  To see my autoresponder and sign up to find out how your series should look, just click here to refresh the page.  My autoresponder comes on as a pop-up so that you can either sign up to it or click ‘Close’ to ignore it.

Now, for the best part…the part that lets you know how an effective autoresponder series should be.

If you write every day, that is too much.  The person receiving the email will get irritated and will lose interest.  If you email them once each week, they will start to wonder who you are.  So, the best way is to send them every 3 days.  You should have one sent as soon as the person signs up, then one on the following day and then on the 4th day, the 7th day, the 10th day and every three days thereon.

The first email should be an introductory one, introducing you and your business.  Remember that you are branding yourself as well as your opportunity or product.  If you can build up a good personal reputation and people get to know you and that they can buy the product from you, then they are going to want to do business with you.

From there on, you should take a look at your opportunity, service or product and list all the reasons that people want to buy that product, and why in particular they want to buy from you.  It is much better to only write about one aspect per email so that people can remember that point and build up a great image of that opportunity, product or service over a period of time.

Get Yourself Motivated

When it comes to our strengths and weaknesses, it is always best to concentrate on what we can do, rather than what we can’t do.  I have read many times that can’t is the worst word in the dictionary and never should have been invented.

However, unless we take a little time to look at our weaknesses, we will never know what they are and so will never be able to do something about these things.  In our own business lives, it is best to focus on improving the things we can already do fairly well.  My business endeavours are concentrated on article marketing and social networking.  Social networking is the very best way of growing your business and for me, article marketing gives people the knowledge that they are dealing with an experienced and professional online entrepreneur.

In this article, I am going to let you know the best ways to motivate yourself to improve your business, and in so doing, to improve your life in each and every area.

You need to realise that unless you do something about it, nobody else will.  You need to put yourself into action and do everything you can to improve your business.  Fair enough, there are only 24 hours in a day so you have to plan at the start and the end of each day what you are going to do.  To fail to plan, is to plan to fail.

Even when you are looking at doing the things that you would rather not do, you need to get out there and do them.  We all have things we don’t like doing.  I don’t really like to go out and do my job in bad weather, when it’s raining or even worse snowing.  At the same time, I don’t like to go out and do my job when it’s baking hot because the heat drains my emotion and makes me feel sick.  I know that if I don’t go out and do my work when I don’t agree with the weather, I’m not going to get paid, or it’s severely going to affect my weekly earnings.

The only person who can motivate you is you, you need to decide on your reason for being in business – what it is that you are in business for.  Myself, as I write this article, my family are going to be forced to sell up in a home that we love because my parents are having to go into a home and you have to be 55 to own one of these places.  My fiancée is 37 and I am 34 so we’re a bit too young.  Still, we love this place.  We love our neighbours and we love our close proximity to wildlife.  One day, I promise my fiancée that we will afford to buy one of these places and live here for the rest of our lives.

A friend used to always tell me that the world is our oyster, and that is the thing to remember.  The future is in our hands and it is up to us to control our destiny.  That friend was an excellent table-tennis player (he played for the England youth team), and he had been accepted for a place at Cambridge University.  He did what he wanted to and he excelled in every area of his life.  I’ve not seen him for a few years now, but I gave him a telephone call a few months ago and he’s leading the kind of life that not many people get to living and working wonders for himself and his family.

With the power of positive thinking, I am going to reach my dreams and with the power of positive thinking, I am motivated every day of my life until I reach the kind of life I have always wanted.

Building Your Friendship Circles

Why did you go into business in the first place?  I know why I did!  The same reason that everyone does – to make money.   How do you make money?  You sell a product or service.   Who do you sell that to?  People.  Anyone and everyone.

In my business, I sell fragrances and I have the options of selling make-up.  The only reason I don’t sell make up is because I don’t know anything about it and therefore wouldn’t know how to sell to someone – whereas fragrances sell themselves.  People who I meet every day take a good sniff and when they say, “Wow!  That’s a lovely smell”, you have made a sale.  It’s as simple as that.

The purpose of this post is not to sell my business opportunity to you.  The purpose is to show you how to build your list of friends and so you have more people who are either interested in joining you in business, or buying your product or service.

Selling fragrances to people through the internet is not as easy as selling to my friends, family, colleagues and people in my area.  You can’t get them to test the fragrance through the internet so I use the internet to help people to improve their lives and if any of them want to join me in my business, that’s a great bonus.

If you want to do internet, network or affiliate marketing, the best way to build your reputation is to build your list of friends.  I use social networking for this.  It’s the one, greatest way to build relationships and make new friends all over the world.  I have no fewer than 1400 people in my Facebook profile.  You can connect to me on Facebook by clicking here.

When you join my Facebook friendship group, I will invite you to join my other groups on Facebook.  The people who I speak to through Facebook, are people who I am getting to know and who are interested in sharing their business with me.   When you build the relationships with the people in your groups, they look out for your name and want to hear from you.  So, they will read your messages and want to have you help them and they want to help you.  Only when you help people to get what they want, will you reach your goals and realise your dreams.  I think that piece of wisdom is the first thing I ever learnt in network marketing and it’s the best bit of wisdom you will ever hear, think about and when you put it into practise, you will find this truth in your results.

Thanks to Marion Ryan for writing the following article.  We all get to the point where we are wondering what to write next and with helpful articles available like this one, it is a great asset and benefits every blogger.

I used to belong to a Toastmasters public speaking club and loved delivering a speech to an appreciative audience. The tough part though was always the same – how do I come up with an interesting subject to talk about?

If someone had just said “Marion, go away and prepare a 7 minute speech about the joys of owning a goldfish” it would have made the whole process so much easier. It can feel that way with your blog too. You love creating a good blog post but struggle to keep thinking up new topics to blog about and fresh relevant blog content.

So how can you get other people to tell you what they want to know about your subject? Here are three simple ideas you might find helpful:

1. Encourage your Readers to ask you a Question

How can you actively encourage readers to ask you about your passion or expertise? Add a question box to the front page of your site. These days there are lots of free services out there that enable you to design this type of form. You can decide what information you want to include and you then get the HTML code to add to your website or blog. Response-O-Matic is one such service but there are many others. And if you’re blogging on Wordpress you will find many plug-ins that do the job too.

It really couldn’t be easier. My preferred question is: “What’s your burning question about X?” and this brings a steady stream of questions that give me blog fodder.

2. Create a Reader Survey

Use an online survey to get clearer about your reader demographics, discover their biggest challenges about your niche subject, find out the one thing that’s stopping them from achieving X or the one thing that would make the biggest difference to them.

The information they give you about their needs and issues can generate ideas for many future blog posts, not to mention ideas for new products, teleclasses and other services.

There are many online survey managers, two I have come across that are reliable and free are SurveyGizmo and SurveyMonkey.

3. Check out Reader Comments

First of all do make sure you have comments enabled on your blog! Encourage readers to comment on your posts by asking an open question at the end of the post. Keep reminding them you welcome their input and comments and ask them to share their own experiences and suggestions. A reader comment can be enough to stir your creative juice and generate more future content for your site.

All too often we waste too much time trying to guess what people want and enjoy at our site instead of doing the obvious and asking them!
